A Baby Girl Saved By Her Hero, Her Daddy.

This beautiful story began Thirteen years ago. A little baby girl, left abandoned, cold, and malnourished, whom we nicked named Binky. My husband and I met later in marriage.  At the time, I was blessed with five beautiful children, my husband blessed with two sons. Most of our children young adults, were living on their own. We cared for my two youngest. My husband took the role of a father to my children. He offered his heart, love and encouragement and most of all his presence. He attended every school function or any event that my children were involved in. He made a difference in their lives.

This story I am sharing is about our Binky and her daddy, her hero. In the 2003 we received a call from Children and Family Services in California where Binky was born. Binky is related to me by blood. We were asked if we would take her in and become her foster parents. My husband and I both agreed to make a home for her. I would fly out to California to bring Binky into our family, a cute curly top, petite, frightened baby girl. As soon as we arrived at the airport in Akron, Ohio where we resided at the time, I was pushing Binky in the stroller and as I was slowly approaching my husband I stopped to look at Binky, her eyes were fixed on him and his eyes on her, that day a bond of father and daughter was created. Ever since that day she has been daddy’s little girl and me her mommy, no longer foster parents but parents. I thank God for bringing her into our lives. When I think of how she was found, a little helpless infant in a cold abandoned building my heart breaks and tears start to flow but at the same time tears of joy fill my heart when I think of how this man, my husband made an impact in her life and turned her life completely around from what it could have been had he not stepped in. She would have been living a life of moving from one foster home to another. Today Binky is a free spirited thirteen- year- old who loves going fishing with her daddy and doing fun things with her daddy or just talking and laughing together and in her sad moments she is embraced by him and he tenderly wipes her tears away. A father isn’t always who brings you into this world, but the man who steps in and make a difference in a child’s life. This whole situation with our Binky could have gone in a whole different path or maybe she wouldn’t be here today, if her life would have continued the way it did.  When I tell my husband you made a difference in Binky’s life, his answer is  “No, she made a difference in mine” Their Journey as father and daughter continue.

Be a light for a lost and wounded child and make a difference in a child’s life. This is how we change the world.
