I was asked to write a blog post about something a dad, mentor, friend or coach might have said to me that I found encouraging or that had an impact on my life. Well, as I am sure it is for most of you, there are so many! I am finding it so hard to choose just one. So instead of focusing on one instance or one piece of advice, I am going to tell you what I’ve learned from all the men in my life. I know what you’re thinking, “You’re a girl, what could you learn from a man?” Well, sit back and relax, here’s exactly what I’ve learned.
I grew up in a very religious family. Every man in man my family is in the ministry in some way or another. And as a girl in this family full preachers, deacons, choir directors, etc. I have seen what a true, godly husband is suppose to look like.
Guys, look at your daughters, nieces, sisters, what kind of example are you to them? Are you showing them how a godly husband, brother, uncle and dad is suppose to live and act? You are the head of your household!! God put you in that position for a reason!! Be the light that your family needs to see God’s grace in everyday!! I have been blessed with a father that does exactly this, and I will be forever grateful to God for my Daddy!
My dad has had such a huge influence on me and my life. Back in 2014 my dad had two strokes. Both of them happened around Thanksgiving and I will be honest, I was angry for awhile. My dad remained faithful and trusted God through the whole thing. I’m sure he had his moments of doubt, but he never let it show. He would repeat a phrase throughout the whole recovery process, “God is good all the time. And all the time God is good.” And, oh how true this is!
