Never say “I CAN’T”

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

Growing up, my Dad would not allow us to say “I can’t”. This was like saying a bad word. From my most early memories, I remember my Dad saying “Don’t say I can’t. You can do all things through Jesus Christ. He can do everything, so if you let HIM, He will help you in everything. If you say I can’t you are really saying that the CHRIST in you, can’t”.

I didn’t dare say that anything was to hard for GOD. I might not be able to read or tie my shoe, but because Jesus Christ could, I could. As a child hearing these words from my Dad often, gave me courage to keep trying in school, and in life. I was not a strong person, but I knew that I didn’t have to be. Jesus Christ was strong enough to get me through the problem.

As I grew up, life was hard for me, but not for GOD. When fear of going to a new school became overwhelming, I repeated my Dad’s words over and over. I can do anything, because of Christ in me. These words became my security blanket as a scared teenager and young adult. I knew that Jesus Christ was in me, so I was not alone. When school or work was hard, I would hear my Dad’s voice in my head reminding me that I could do all things, because of Christ’s strength and ability.

Life is not about my weakness, but about Christ’s strength in me. Were I am week, HE is strong.

When I first started driving an 18 wheeler across America, I was scared. Trucks are big, hard to drive, hard to back, and getting across the country can be overwhelming. Good thing I was not alone. Because I knew that anything was possible for Jesus Christ, and being a Christian meant that HE was in me, I could drive that 18 wheeler. I repeated the words of my Dad and the Bible form one side of this country to the other. After 16 years of driving a truck, I still repeat these words thank GOD that I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me.
