I spotted these two in the field just meandering, chatting and walking along together. A small recruit and a seasoned warrior, 81 years his junior.
The experienced one walks on and points out many curiosities to the little one and when the stroll is over, the little one goes inside and the seasoned one goes home.
However, for the seasoned one it’s not “out of sight, out of mind”. On any given day you will find my Dad, in his favourite spot, quietly bowed in prayer; not just for a few minutes, but with purpose for hours, talking to his Heavenly Father.
He doesn’t only pray for my sisters and I, but for our spouses, grown children and our “little ones”. He prays for his church, country, our world and dear reader – he prays for you as well, all those reading this post.
My Dad is a warrior; having long ago learned to fight his battles in prayer.
Children don’t need a perfect father; they just need a good Dad. Someone who loves them when others don’t, forgives when others won’t, a father who defends and protects, a Dad who fights for them in prayer.
Dad’s, I bless you in your role as a father. God taught my Dad how to be exceptional father, a warrior, a man who fights battles in prayer; I know He can teach you too.
Talk to Him today.
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you”. James 1:5
“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength”. Philippians 4:13
“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, rescue us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen”. Matthew 6: 9-12
